Art knows no frontiers
Under the auspices of the Mayor of Trier Wolfram Leibe
19 September – 19 October 2017
“Art knows no frontiers”: to mark its 25th anniversary the Academy of European Law is organising an art exhibition featuring artworks by 31 contemporary artists from 31 European countries. The exhibition has been curated by Christian Noorbergen.
Since its foundation in Trier in 1992, ERA has built a reputation for bringing high-quality training in European law to practitioners in all EU Member States and beyond. For this reason we are delighted that artists from all over Europe have agreed to contribute to this exhibition and to provide artworks that will then be sold at auction on 19 October as part of the programme of ERA’s Jubilee Congress.
The proceeds of the auction will be shared equally between the artist and the ERA Jubilee Fund. The Jubilee Fund supports in particular ERA’s scholarship programme, which enables legal practitioners from EU Member States and candidate countries to participate in ERA training programmes and thus ensures equal access to professional training on European law. Only congress delegates, speakers and registered bidders may attend the auction and reception on 19 October. People whishing to bid can still register in the evening of 19 October at the place of the auction.

ERA and art
Both European art and European law are central to the project of European integration. Since 1998, ERA has organised 67 exhibitions of European artists in its rooms. Now, with the 2017 jubilee exhibition and auction, ERA is giving art lovers the opportunity to purchase one or more of the exhibited works and to meet some of the exhibiting artists in person.
